Farewell to Kath and Henry

Posted on March 10, 2018 by Milkwood Admin

We have said a goodbye to one of our most loved carers, Kath Weed. Kath has worked at Castleford for 17 years and has recently retired.

We held a retirement party for Kath, at which both our residents and staff all had a great time. We wish Kath a very happy and healthy retirement, and she will be dearly missed.

Henry Wills came to us from hospital with a vision of one day going to live back at home. Social services did not think that this was possible – in fact Henry was caught in an unfortunate healthcare blind spot, where he was too well to require nursing care, but too poorly to go into residential care.

It is a great testament to Henry’s determination and willpower, as well to our staff who assisted him through his time at Castleford, that on Monday 6th November 2017, Henry was successfully discharged back to his home. Whilst we all miss him (and his singing during the entertainment), we are delighted that we have been a part of his journey and been able to assist him in returning to something of a normal life. Henry is still in contact with home, as we take him to church every Sunday.
