We hold a Relatives Meeting to get feedback on what we do and to check how relatives are keeping.

This month we were joined by Dementia Friends Rhiannon & Pip. Rhiannon contacted us to see if we would be interested in joining and supporting them, and Dementia Friends also working with us. Pip is a volunteer for Dementia Friends but is officially an Artist, We have already arranged with Pip for Art classes which the residents are sure to enjoy.

On 14th August 2014, Brecon received official ‘Working to become Dementia Friendly’ recognition from the Alzheimer’s Society. Brecon is the first community in Wales to achieve this status and reflects just how caring a community we are.

A Dementia Friendly Community is made up of the whole community – shop assistants, public service workers, faith groups, businesses, police, fire and ambulance staff, bus drivers, school pupils, clubs and societies. People who are committed to working together to help those living with dementia to remain part of their community.
