Nature Guardians

Posted on August 24, 2021 by Milkwood Admin

There are many types of wildlife in the gardens at Castleford, and we thoroughly enjoy being so close to nature and helping to take care of it. Some of the plants that we have planted in the sensory garden are to help encourage bees and butterflies (which are super pollinators). One afternoon, whilst working in the sensory garden, Deputy Manager, Katherine, noticed a bumble bee in difficulty. Katherine made up a sugar water solution and gently encouraged the bee to have a drink. The bee was indeed thirsty, drinking at the sugar water for quite some time. Katherine left the bee under the watchful eyes of one of the residents, who stayed and watched the bee regain its strength and fly off. It was a wonderful sight to see and it was lovely to be able to help out.
