Rising to a ten mile challenge
Posted on July 12, 2019 by Milkwood Admin
Our Ganarew staff successfully completed a 10 mile sponsored walk to raise funds for our home.
As you can see from the photos, the girls chose a rather wet day to complete the walk but the weather did not dampen their spirits. Pictured from left to right in the photo are Leslie, Cath with her two lovely dogs, Cheryl, Wendy, Margaret, and her sister Dianne, On the far right is Dianne and her little dog. (Dianne is the daughter of Gina, one of our Ganarew residents).
En route, the weather could have been kinder but it didn’t deter the walkers’ spirits. At times, Dianne had to carry her little dog as it all got a bit much, but they soldiered on, determinsed to finish the hike.
Cath, Wendy and Dianne were the first set of girls to arrive back at the entrance to Ganarew House. Everyone was tired, wet but happy!
A special congratulations must go to Margaret, our housekeeper, who despite having a recent operation on her hip, was totally committed to finishing the walk. We are all very proud of you, Margaret!
The walkers pass on their sincere thanks to all the residents’ families, staff and everyone who sponsored
Did you know that Wendy’s also just completed another impressive walking challenge?… She’s recently successfully climbed to the peak of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in The British Isles, at 1,345 metres above sea level.
