At Castleford House we are looking to commence a new and exciting initiative that we would like you to be a part of. We’re calling it ‘The Wishing Tree’.

The Wishing Tree is an artificial tree that will be in one of the communal areas where the people we care for can hang their written wishes. Wishes can be small or large but whatever a persons wish, within reason, the lifestyles coordination team, in partnership with the person’s family, will go about trying to make it happen.

The purpose of the tree is to show people that old age and dementia are no boundaries for fulfilling wishes and aspirations. Having the tree also allows people and relatives to suggest activities and trips that they have always wanted to experience.

We, as a home, really hope that the tree will become a focus for people and their families, and will encourage them to come up with ideas to help them reconnect with their past and recall significant memories and emotions.
