With another weekend finished at Castleford House, we’ve been up to lots of fun things! We had a visit from our therapy dog, Ernie, and celebrated the 5th of November, virtually On Saturday Amelia came in on her weekend off to bring Ernie up to see everyone! As usual, his bouncy, friendly and funny personality had an effect on everyone he saw, managing to lift spirits and putting smiles on people’s faces. Our gentleman took a particular shine to Ernie this visit. One couldn’t get enough of him, by fussing him and inviting him up on to his lap – he even shared his bag of crisps with Ernie! Another, who owned similar dogs many years ago was in awe of Ernie, she told us: “I love him so much, can’t he live with me here?” Another resident, asked if she could “cwtch” him, so she had Ernie on her lap and loved every minute! She said: “he’s so beautiful, please can I have him?!” This year, we did bonfire night slightly different. With COVID in mind, we wanted people to experience the celebration in a safe way. So we stayed in and held a virtual firework party! Our ladies helped make some bonfire night inspired treats. We had Catherine wheel biscuits, fruit fireworks and bonfire punch! We stayed in the warm and watched a fantastic firework display from the Disney Parks! All residents enjoyed the event and said: One said “I’d rather watch it from the warmth of my home anyway! We should do this every year!”
