Residents and staff were treated to a spectacular hour meeting some magnificent birds of prey. They came face to beak with owls and falcons, all of which were truly beautiful. Luke, their keeper, was informative and handled the birds very professionally. Residents were able to get up close to view the birds’ wonderful plumage and see the huge orange eyes of the young baby owl. Residents thought the visit from Wye Valley Falconry was marvellous and they all learnt something! For example; It is a myth that owls have superior knowledge. They are in fact only associated with wisdom and good knowledge because of the myth which stems from the Greek goddess, Athena (Goddess of Wisdom), who had a pet owl which she carried on her shoulder!
