School visits

As part of our community projects, we have made arrangements with our local school, Llanfaes CP School, to visit every other Friday. During these visits, the residents and children come together to do fun activities. We have been twice already and will continue to go with different residents so everyone gets a chance to experience this lovely environment. Intergenerational meetings work amazingly for both the residents and the students. It is also amazing for us to be out in the community seeing different faces and meeting new people. The kids get the residents playing games like draughts and matching, as well as engaging in colouring and word searches, all while dancing to the music.
We also try to attend events at the school whenever possible, such as their most recent coffee morning to raise funds for the school. Additionally, we have invested in a ball with questions for the kids to ask our residents and vice versa, so they can get to know one another. They thoroughly enjoyed this!
Both the residents and children benefit enormously from these days and we all leave smiling from ear to ear. Here is just some of the things our residents have said…
June – “That was lovely, can we go again?”
Rosa – “ I love being with the children, I hope we can visit again soon.”
Sidney – When asked if he had enjoyed, he replied with, “Yes, it was smashing.”
Tom – “Lovely!” he answered as he was singing and dancing.
Another resident – “I really enjoyed this and it lightened up my day.”
Here are some photos of the lovely interaction we have had!
