How do your flowers grow?

Posted on May 1, 2012 by Milkwood Admin

Our residents at Chatterwood, have shown a great interest in gardening this year and requested that we plant flowers and an array of vegetables, as well as helping with the weeding, watering and the dead heading of flowers.

We have bought some lovely oblong planters from B&Q, plenty of plants and compost. Some of our residents helped fill the planters with compost and then planted the flowers, which consist of a mixture of lillies, hostas, marigolds, petunias and pansies.

The flowers have grown in leaps and bounds and are looking fantastic, a wonderful array of colour and very pleasing to the eye. We decided to place the planters on the patio and outside the dining room along the wall, this way they are at the right height for the residents to tend to.

We have also planted some tomato and courgette plants which we are all looking forward to eating in the near future, and we are now in the process of making a vegetable patch, where we hope to create raised beds for the residents to plant up and maintain.
