This year we are focusing on fulfilling people’s Christmas wishes. Whether this is recreating old traditions or trying something new, we are up to the challenge!
To kick off our first Christmas wish , one of our residents has never managed to successfully leave the building because she experiences severe anxiety, but this week we were able to support her to overcome this! She told us about when she used to visit the garden centre with her children to buy a tree and wished to do it one more time, so that’s exactly what we did! She had a brilliant time out and couldn’t believe she had been so nervous about it before! She was even lucky enough to see her grandson, Jack, and she said: “that is the best gift I could of asked for, seeing my handsome, hardworking grandson.”
Another resident, our queen of shopping, wished to go out for some retail therapy, so we made that happen for her and she came with us! She treated herself to a beautiful new scarf and managed to get the last of her Christmas shopping done. She said: “I love going out, thank you so much for taking me.”
The ladies picked the most wonderful Christmas tree and, after decorating it, we have displayed it in the Severn Lounge for everyone else to enjoy!
