Alzheimer’s Society charity run

Posted on April 13, 2024 by Milkwood Admin

Below is an email that we received from a family member who is completing a run for Alzheimer’s:
“My Aunty has lived at Applewood for several years now and having seen the changes in her during the time there and prior to her move, I thought I would do a challenge to support Alzheimers Society. So I am walking 26 miles on 11th May around Salisbury and Stonehenge! The care my Aunty receives is great, but seeing the lady I knew as a fun Aunty, active in her community, caring for her pets and with a social life to requiring assistance with everything and the challenges the journey has bought is hard. As all the other relatives will know only too well. I work as a nurse, so have seen the challenges from the “ other side “ too. The Alzheimer’s Society does a great job supporting those who need it, as well as campaigning and funding research into diagnosis, treatment and care. If any one would like to sponsor me it would be much appreciated- search on JustGiving for Helen Haider, or if you fancy a walk yourself, then search on the Alzheimer’s Society website for Trek 26- there are several going on around the country. Thanks in advance!”
