Milkwood Care’s Impactful Tree Planting Initiative

Posted on March 21, 2024 by Milkwood Admin

On March 1st, our managers from Milkwood Care partnered with Carma and the Green Task Force, a local environmental organisation, to plant 1000 trees in the Usk Valley. An initiative aimed to create a new forest in South Wales, with our goal being to raise £6,250. Thanks to the overwhelming support, individuals from some of our homes participated in the planting day.

The event was unforgettable. Armed with equipment and enthusiasm, we ventured into the Usk Valley, ready to make a tangible difference. Alongside veterans, we dug, planted, and enjoyed the fresh air together.

Now, with an update from Carma, we’re thrilled to share the impact:

Location: Llanbadoc, Newport, Wales

  • Trees Planted: 1000
  • tC02e* Removed: 700
  • Species: 3
  • Workdays Created: 10

These numbers speak volumes, representing ecosystems restored, carbon emissions mitigated, and opportunities generated. As we celebrate this success, we’re reminded of the power of collective action and our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

  • total tonnes of CO2e expected to be sequestered over time.
