Sedbury Memory Café

Posted on May 1, 2012 by Milkwood Admin

As part of Castleford House’s integration in the Forest of Dean Dementia Action Alliance, Ben and Stacey initially took part in the Sedbury Memory Café, in order to meet people in the community who experience dementia and offer insight and education. However, it was such a fun experience that residents have now started to come along with them. The memory café takes place at Sedbury Space every first Wednesday of the month and has various themes to keep it entertaining. It is a place for people who experience dementia and their carers to meet, socialise, relax and learn. We have attended three so far and have undertaken a variety of fun activities such as naming leaves and berries, singing hymns, apple bobbing, watching indoor fireworks and meeting new people. People that have come with us have had a lot of fun, so much so that we are looking at attending a second memory café that takes place in the middle of the month. Families are more than welcome to attend, if they wish – for more information please speak to Ben or Stacey.
