On 9th May, Archie and John went to visit the Mining Museum Big Pit where they were met by a group of coal miners, who warmly welcomed them. Archie was thrilled, as it was here where he worked for many years, when he was younger. The coal miners gave our pair a tour, but Archie was insistent that he showed everyone around as he remembered the place like the back of his hand. Archie was having a laugh with the coal miners and telling them what he used to do when he worked down the mine – he could remember everything so vividly. Archie and John had their photos taken with the miners with a view of Big Pit behind. They both then enjoyed a nice cup of tea and cake, and visited the souvenir shop where they purchased a few items to remind them of their day.
