Lockdown Pampering

As lockdown continues, Applewood never ceases to have lots of fun and we have all been kept busy with activities. Without our hairdresser and nail technician visiting, Applewood staff have stepped up to become ‘pamper experts’ and they have done brilliantly well to give wonderful manicures and make sure we all look our best.

The Lodge recycled garden

We’ve done a fair bit of ‘upcycling’ over the past few weeks, and the results have been pretty amazing! The garden is now dotted with new features that have been made out of old or tired items, which have been spruced up. Gents Movie Club

The gents enjoyed a movie afternoon – they watched ‘Babe The Pig’, a film chosen by John! They sat, pretty much glued to the action throughout the entire film. There were a few chuckles along the way. We enjoyed coffee and cake afterwards.

Moooving & Groooving!

The activity girls, Casey and Claire, had a wonderful, energetic, dancing session with the residents. We got the residents involved in dancing from their chairs, by encouraging them to copy us. We danced the Hokey Cokey, Superman and lots of fun was had by all! This sort of thing keeps our daily exercise levels up…

Afternoon tea in the garden

We enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea outside, one sunny afternoon. We had ‘crusts off’ cucumber sandwiches, with other mixed fillings and an array of delicious fruits, including strawberries, grapes and raspberries. A firm favourite was the profiteroles – these went down very nicely with our cups of tea! It was a lovely treat to eat…

Music therapy at the home

We all love a bit of music therapy and we have been making our own music, over the last few weeks. It’s been music to our ears to be able to listen to melodies, bells and beats – very cheerful.
