Applewood

We spent a lovely afternoon in the garden enjoying Easter- themed activities, a fun sing-along, and some creative drawing. With the sun shining and cold lemonade in hand, spirits were high as we watched Lou hard at work building our new summer house—something we’re all excited to make use of this summer!

Residents took part in the VE Day service, where the Major raised the flag to mark 80 years since Victory in Europe. The day concluded with a lively street party filled with music, food, and plenty of fun for all.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter at Applewood. The festivities brought plenty of smiles, with activities including balloon bouncing, bean bag throwing, and a cheerful sing-along of traditional Easter hymns. Our residents enjoy an eclectic mix of arts and crafts activities; some of which are messier than others! 

It’s fantastic when Applewood residents gather together and socialise as a group, but sometimes there’s nothing more special than playing a game, chatting to a friend, or quiet moments alone enjoying a spot of TV.

We are delighted to introduce you to our newest residents, Ted & Flo. Our ‘real’ residents chose their names and made up a background story for both of them.

What a fluffy start to 2025! Our year has already been filled with love and cuddles from some adorable furry friends who visited Applewood this February.  We had an amazing pet therapy session, making new friends and sharing special moments. Cuddles with kittens are simply unbeatable. Here at Applewood, we were delighted to welcome two gorgeous kittens through our doors, and their visit brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Their names were just as wonderful—Potato and Star. Magical! A big thank you to Ian for bringing them to see us.

The NYE party at our Applewood home was filled with fun, laughter, karaoke, and a quiz for good measure, followed by delicious food and fizzy pop.

The staff and residents at Applewood had the pleasure of meeting up with sister home, Braeburn Lodge, for tea, coffee, a chat, and a singalong. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and enjoy the sunshine together.
