Applewood

Applewood enjoyed an afternoon of Hollywood glitz and glamour and a few famous faces popped in to celebrate with us.

We all enjoyed tasting and guessing different fruits whilst wearing giant green ‘blindfold’ glasses! It was a really fun activity.

We had a 1960s afternoon reminiscing with Babycham, quizzes and good old fashioned cheese and pineapple hedgehogs.

Three of our ladies enjoyed an afternoon at the Bramley and Romans Floral Society. Our trio won with this arrangement, how proud do they all look? One of our other residents also got green fingers one afternoon and decided it was time to build the greenhouse.

Our WI ladies made an excellent job of making the Applewood Christmas Cake – it was done in three stages:Stage 1: The soaking of all the fruit in a lot of brandy (fortunately they didn’t get tipsy on the fumes) and making the cake. Stage 2: Rolling out marzipan and icing the cake. Stage 3:…

Our ladies enjoyed an afternoon of relaxation and pampering. They treated themselves to a Bucks Fizz or two and they all had lots of fun and giggles.

Christmas Day was a joyous day in the home. Everyone received presents and enjoyed opening their gifts. Our traditional Christmas lunch was delicious and we pulled crackers around the table and popped our party hats on before the feast.

Christmas at Applewood, this year, was one long party! Kicking off the celebrations was Cinderella. Residents enjoyed the production brought to us by Tickled Pink Theatre Productions.

Our local vicar popped in to give a Christingle service. Prior to her visit, our residents enjoyed making Christingle oranges.

Father Christmas flew into Applewood, as a surprise, one evening. Some of our residents braved the cold to say hello and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.
